Tai Chi

5000 years ago, Haung Di – “the Yellow Emperor” postulated that stagnation of energy or Chi in the human body, would result in disease. He therefore instituted a series of health dances that had the express purpose of keeping the human body healthy. This lead to the interest in movements and exercises in the Chinese civilisation that culminates into the present day’s graceful movement art of Tai Chi.

The Lee Style of Tai Chi is a circular flow of continuous movement, re-establishing a balance between mind and body to achieve harmony within.

If energy (Chi) is circulating, always returning, always accumulating, then exercise is revitalising, not draining.

Tai Chi replenishes the body delivering a feeling of balance, harmony and well being.

Tai Chi is an acient Chinese discipline that integrates mind body and spirit. Practitioners use meditation and deep breathing as they move through a series of continuous exercises called ‘forms’, which are performed slowly and mindfully as though moving underwater.

The central element of practising Tai Chai focuses on how a movement should be made from the internal core of the body – the abdomen, back and waist, then extending into the limbs.

Many studies have been conducted on Tai Chi’s theraputic benefits, which include reducing stress, promoting balance and flexibility. Tai Chi can also be used to help Arthritis, balance, circulation problems and High Blood Pressure.

To play Tai Chi is to experience the flow of energy from within. Learning Tai Chi, shifting the weight slowly from one leg to the other, there is no way to pretend you are balanced if you are not. The body does not lie. You begin here!
